speak block

Post by bkgray » Jul 31st, '17, 01:59

I've just started playing around with GP. One of the first things I tried was the speak block (as I suspect many of my students will do). No sound is produced by the block. (Playing notes and playing the POP sound in one of the demo programs work as expected.)

I can't find any documentation on the block. Should it be working, or is it still in development? I'm not sure if this is a bug, or a misunderstanding on my part of what to expect.

I have version 0.72 installed on a Win 10 system.

Thanks for catching this!

Alas, the "speak" block works only on Mac OS.

It's misleading (and disappointing for students) that it appears in the palette and doesn't work. I will remove it until I find some cross-platform way to provide that functionality.

It is disappointing, but it's good to know that I wasn't doing something wrong.
