One feature that helped make Scratch easy and creative was the concept of sprite costumes
The costumes can be hand drawn, imported from external files or loaded from the in-built library
In GP we've currently got ability to hand draw or import a single image to a costume
We can have a lot of images and GP has the excellent facility of loading and/or creating them dynamically but we haven't got a good library system for non-dynamic loading or grouping multiple image options and switching between
Basically - its hard for beginners (and non-beginners have come up with their own ideas on how to implement using lists or dictionaries or something else)
I think we should either say - GP doesn't do costumes - remove any reference to costumes (replace it with appearance or another word or even just use image)
or
implement some system so that instance images can be grouped, pre-loaded and easily switched between
